A few years ago, I spent a day at the Harrogate Lingerie Show looking at the various brands then available of Shapewear or Magic Knickers. What I was looking for was something that did the job, offered good value for money and at the same time was not too unattractive when it came to getting undressed. The main brands at the time were Spanx and 'Trinny and Susannah'. Having looked at the market my colleagues and I were really impressed with the ranges coming from Brazil, Plie and Girl from Impanema. Plie the more up market product was at that time a lot cheaper than the other brands, was seamless and the material it was made from was breathable, these were all positive factors. Their range was also impressive with a Control Tube, High Waist Briefs and Bermudas included. Girl from Impanema had a fantastic pricepoint with the two basic products of Pants Perfect and Pants Perfect Plus, being knee length. We ended up stocking Trinny and Susannah, as a known brand and the two Brazilian labels. Over the last couple of years however with the change in exchange rates and costs of materials, the Brazilian brands have become more expensive, with Plie prices now being comparable to Trinny and Susannah if not slightly more expensive. We are therefore going to discontinue Girl from Impanema and Plie with Trinny and Susannah continuing.
